| A strong low pressure system moving into the Great Lakes will tighten the pressure gradient across the region, leading to increasingly windy conditions Friday. Daytime heating will allow stronger winds just above the surface to mix down, producing widespread strong gusts. The strongest winds are expected across northeast portions of central Indiana, where a High Wind Warning is in effect from 5 AM to 8 PM Friday with gusts potentially reaching 55–60 mph. The strongest gusts will likely occur during a relatively brief period Friday morning as daytime mixing increases before the strongest winds aloft shift east later in the day. Elsewhere across central Indiana, a Wind Advisory is in effect with gusts of 45–55 mph possible. The higher-end gusts in the advisory area are most likely across northern and eastern counties. Winds should begin to diminish from west to east during the mid to late afternoon as the low pressure system moves farther east. |
